SUPPLIES
-Application bottles -Rubber bands 3 inches X 1/6 -Fabric paint or acrylic -Basin -Grill or grate plastic coded -Bucket of water -optional; Thin plastic glove -Handkerchief, t-shirt or fabric CAUTION: Stretch rubber bands away from direction of eyes. INSTRUCTIONS -Dilute fabric paint with two parts water and one part fabric. -Shake well until mixture is smooth and even -Iron creases from fabric -Finger pleat design -Apply rubber bands -Wash fabric in detergent and spin dry -Apply well shaken dye between folds and squeeze and press in dye -with other hand. -Allow the tie-dye to sit on the grill for 12-15 hours or accelerate drying with a small fan. -Tie-dyes should be slightly damp but dry enough to not leave dye on fingers -Remove rubber bands from the center to the outside -Hang to air set the dyes for a few hours -Dryer heat should be used for best color setting results -Use a steam iron and iron on both sides of fabric or garment. |
